It is housed in a black, aluminum case, and I believe it is the same case also used by Massdrop for their Liquid Carbon and THX amps, just with a hole up top for the tube. It uses but a sole tube of the 6922 variety and its variants.
The Cavalli Tube Hybrid, known as the CTH from here on out, is, obviously, a solid state, tube amp hybrid. A hybrid tub amp from a well-known designer for $249, huh? Have there been comments on the brand or type of LED to use? I've heard that color can make a diff. This may have worsened the sound? Not sure! Next, I did the LED mod (replacing the 1k R). I think that made a positive improvement. I did the Preamp Output ground (remove) mod. I have not made such comparisons, however.Ī few mods have been suggested for the 336se.
It can roughly be compared to Bottlehead Crack, the latter being better built and pricier. FYI, the Darkvoice 336se is a popular tube headphone amp from China.
